The Editor of The Brownsville Beacon Thanks You

By Diego Garcia III | Editor of The Brownsville Beacon

I just wanted to take a couple of minutes out of my day to thank those of you who have chosen to visit my new blog. I also wanted to thank those of you who tuned in to the live stream of the Nomorecheezmeh show.

It is humbling to think that anybody would read these meandering thoughts that tumble out of my head. I really appreciate it. As I've said in the past, I am not a professional journalist, and I do not pretend to be. I decided to reboot the blog because I think there aren't too many legitimate sources of local information, and I would hope some of you would tune in to read some of the articles I post about local history and some of the editorials I post about local politics and events.

We here at the Beacon try to publish original content. We do not want to get into the habit of posting other blogger's work. Those other blogs are more established than this one, and I really do want this blog to be a fresh take on the things that are going on in Brownsville.

I also encourage you to visit the other local blogs and become part of the conversation. We live in interesting times, and we should begin realizing just how much power the people can wield.

Brownsville can be better. Brownsville can do better — and it all starts with you.

Thanks, again, for visiting.
