Sadness and Gratitude as the Holidays Approach

I am not going to put a byline on this post. This really isn't an editorial. It's a personal message to those of you who have decided to visit the Beacon and made it a part of your regular blog reading.

First, thank you very much for deciding to stop by. I know I don't have a very large readership, and maybe that'll change, but I just wanted to extend my gratitude to those of you who stop by to read the meandering thoughts that come tumbling out of my head.

I know the holiday season is very quickly ramping up. Soon, you'll surround yourself with loved ones, friends, and family. You'll huddle around the TV during Thanksgiving and either cheer, or jeer, the Cowboys. Then soon you'll start seeing Christmas lights and trees popping up all over town. You'll surround yourself with those same loved ones and enjoy yourselves as you get ready to say goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020.

To say 2019 has been a rough year is an understatement. Those of you who know me personally know exactly what I've been going through and all the difficulties that have been surrounding me. I've grown sadder, colder, and sicker in recent years. Sometimes I don't even know how I get through the days.

I am very fortunate to have some very good friends and family members who have helped me out along the way. Through the chaos and tragedies of the recent months, I have reconnected with several friends and family members who have tried their hardest to give me their support and words of encouragement. To them, I can only say I am eternally grateful and send them all the love and affection in the world.

I wish you all a very happy holiday season. I wish you all the happiest Thanksgiving, the merriest Christmas and Hanukkah, and the happiest New Year. Enjoy the warmth and love of your friends and family. Hold them close to you and make sure they know exactly how you feel about them.

Be a little nicer. Be a little cheerier. Be warmer. Open up your heart to those who are close to you.

Don't be like me.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day.
